Tori Amos, Alanis Morissette, The Cure, Coldplay, U2, Journey, Paul McCartney, Joe Satriani, Radiohead…some of the concerts I’ve gone to and enjoyed in the past. Yesterday though, this feeling of nervousness and an uneasiness came over me like a wave. It didn’t go away, the closer it got to head out to the venue where Fiona Apple was going to perform, the more intense it got. Tried to make some jokes with my girlfriend but it wasn’t working too well. I tried to get into the show and ignore my strange symptoms but to no avail. I just could not get into it, even when she sang the only two songs I like from her. The heavy aroma of ‘herb’ in the air only seemed to intensify this queasiness. It’s the morning after and the symptoms have lessened now that the show has long since ended. I have an idea as to what brought this on, the final remnants of a bad patch in my life from some 15 years ago. But I’m over that, have been for a while now. It’s over and done with now, Fiona and the past.
